PRE-BALLET (AGES: 2.5 - 5 years old)
FOR THE YOUNGEST DANCERS
Children learn about music, rhythm, beats and self expression while also learning about working with others, taking turns, and following directions with basic classical ballet terminology. Children are encouraged to move their bodies and to use their gross motor skills. Students enrolled in these classes will also learn a routine for our end of year production!
BALLET/TAP COMBO CLASSES (AGES 5+ years old)
EXPANDING ON THE BASICS
This fun class is designed to introduce students from 5 years to 10 years ballet and tap dance. Learning some basic ballet and jazz skills will allow the students to experience each style of dance while improving their flexibility, sense of rhythm and overall coordination. Classes will be broken out based on the number of years the dancer has previously taken class. We reserve the right to place the student in the appropriate class based on ability over age. Students will learn two routines for our end of the year production!
INTRO TO JAZZ (AGES 6-7+ years old)
FOR YOUNG DANCERS WITH PREVIOUS DANCE EXPERIENCE
This class is designed to introduce students into jazz technique and is a 30 minute add on to the current Ballet/Tap Combo class. Learning the building blocks of the technique, this class will continue to allow the student to express themselves with a new style of dance, improve their flexibility, develop a more complex sense of rhythm and overall coordination. Students will learn an additional routine for our end of year production!
HIP HOP (AGES 9-12 years old & 13+ years old)
FOR DANCERS LOOKING LOOKING FOR SOMETHING FUNKY
This class is designed for dancers who are looking to get into hip-hop without joining our technique classes. Dancers will work on strength, rhythm, coordination with familiar moves that they see other commercial dancers performing. This may be the perfect introduction to the #FSADFam for your dancer! Students will learn an additional routine for our annual end of year production.
FOR THE SERIOUS DANCER, OUR COMPANY LEVEL CLASSES
BALLET TECHNIQUE
JUNIOR, APPRENTICE & SENIOR LEVEL CLASSES
Students will focus on building the strength, flexibility and control needed to execute ballet moves. Each class will emphasize barre exercises and may also include a combination of center floor work and across-the-floor combinations. Students will also learn a routine for our end of year production. Students enrolled at the Junior, Apprentice and Senior Levels will perform on both nights!
Placement is based on student's ability and will be by faculty invitation only.
TAP TECHNIQUE
JUNIOR, APPRENTICE & SENIOR LEVEL CLASSES
Description: Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and having fun. As students progress through each level curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate. Students will also learn a routine for our end of year production. Student’s enrolled at the Junior, Apprentice and Senior Levels will perform on both nights!
Placement is based on student's ability and will be by faculty invitation only.
JAZZ TECHNIQUE
JUNIOR, APPRENTICE & SENIOR LEVEL CLASSES
Jazz class will focus on learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality and developing complex rhythms and patterns. Students will be exposed to various styles of jazz such as Broadway, Street and Contemporary to help develop a well rounded dancer. Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with traditional jazz movement and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations. As students progress through each level curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate.Students will also learn a routine for our end of year production. Students enrolled at the Junior, Apprentice and Senior Levels will perform for other community performances and on both nights of the recital.
